Mondays at the CCC

At The Cottonwood School, we know how important it is to provide a place for families to be together for co-schooling, fun, and community-building for both students and parents. One way we do this is by opening our Community Connect Center each Monday from 10 am to 2 pm for our families to learn, explore, and build relationships.

 

The structure of each Monday is as follows:

  • 10 am-1 pm: Quiet explorative play & schoolwork
  • 1 pm-2 pm: Staff-led, parent-guided activity
  • 2 pm: Head to Craft & Storytime at the Lending Library or home!

This is a great time to get schoolwork done, meet up with friends and teachers, and meet other Cottonwood families! If you haven’t been to the site before, it’s a great way to spend some time with us and get some questions answered by a Family Liaison or HST on-site. Our 1 PM staffed activities rotate between the following:

  • In-person literacy activities with Superstar Readers
  • Mindful Movement with our SELF Coordinator, Kelly McIntosh
  • World of Music with Mr. Jamin
  • Activities from our Educational Design Experts
  • Craft days with our Family Liaisons

FAQ

  • Are signups required?
    Nope! We’d love to have a heads-up that you’re coming to our staffed activities if possible for the sake of adequate preparation, but we’d like to see you either way!
  • Can I bring younger siblings?
    Yes! We love kids of all ages. Bring your babies, students, and teens! There are options for everyone.
  • Is there somewhere my student can get online for a class?
    Yes – we have classrooms that can be used for online classes, as well as laptops and headphones that you are more than welcome to borrow.
  • Is this a drop-off event?
    No. You are required to supervise all your children at all times in the CCC.
  • Does my family have to stay the whole time?
    Nope! Mondays at the CCC are drop-in events – we’d love to have you whenever is convenient for your family.
  • Do you have bathrooms/a water fountain?
    Yes! We have two bathrooms and a water bottle filling station in the CCC.
  • Can we bring lunch?
    Absolutely! Feel free to bring any snacks you’d like, as long as there are no nuts, and be sure to clean up after yourself.
