Become Part of a Connected Community

We believe community makes our homeschooling experiences that much better, and field trips are one avenue to get there! Our school-sponsored field trips bring your child’s education to life. From the arts to athletics, science to living history, and nature to outer space, we explore the world around us together to enhance learning and build community.

Each month during the school year we offer approximately two dozen opportunities to connect with other homeschooling families, including field trips, park days, and special events. And the fun doesn’t stop in summer! Our Family Liaison Team offers regular park days and a limited number of free field trips in the summer so kids can stay connected.

Check the Wednesday Weekly or the event calendar to see all the field trips and events offered each month!

How do you sign up for a field trip? Who can join us?

Where can I find the calendar of upcoming trips?

Find all these answers and directions on the Field Trip Page! Including our downloadable Field Trip Journal and an amazing array of educational resources that extend the learning from our school-sponsored trips and events!

Community Connections
Each month our Community Coordinators provide opportunities for students and parents to gather for unique events that build community. From the arts to athletics, science to living history, and nature to outer space, we explore the world around us, together. We also host all-school events that bring families together, such as a science fair, a spelling bee, and a maker’s market. Meet your Community Coordinators

Everybody Belongs logo

Everybody Belongs

We are committed to lifting the voices of those who may not have historically been recognized or valued, and providing diverse perspectives on both historical and current events. Through monthly workshops and events, we create opportunities for conversation and understanding, as well as supply tools to help staff and families take actionable steps toward positive change. Visit the Everybody Belongs page to explore more.

SELF (Social-Emotional Learning Foundations)

We nurture social, emotional, and physical wellness, in addition to academic excellence, to maximize your child’s holistic growth and future success. We do this through Mindset Mondays, workshops for students to learn about the 7 Mindsets, Parent Education, our weekly SELF Talk newsletter, and support.

2pm: Craft & Storytime at the Lending Library

Mondays at the CCC are run by one of our Family Liaisons and generally attended by an HST. Check out upcoming Mondays and reserve a spot for your family in the Wednesday Weekly!

Connect Events

Our Family Liaisons hold weekly park days in multiple cities where families can have fun and liaisons are available to answer questions and provide guidance on homeschooling with The Cottonwood School. The Lending Library van is also at each park once a month, making it easy for parents to pick up and return curriculum and materials.

Parent & Student Advisory Council

The Parent & Student Advisory Council was created by The Cottonwood School as a formal way for parents to engage with their school and each other. It is meant to encourage participation in school policy discussions and programs offered and to represent family perspectives to school leaders. The council also supports parents to be leaders and advocates in their children’s education.
